 depositing coins costs money if it is possible more often than not so try to exchange your small money at a local smaller shop, they are often happy with it because they have to pay for change at a bank

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It takes 9 days to open a basic account in this bank. I was told I am going to receive all the documents by post to my home address within 5 working days. After 7 days they told me to wait 2 more days and said that's this is a normal procedure.
In any other country you can open an account within 15 minutes using only your ID. In Netherlands they won't open it without a special document from geemente with your BSN number on it and even with this document they will make you wait over a week. For what? For a bank account?
The banking system in Netherlands is a joke.
I rate it 2 star because the staff working there is friendly. Although I bet the people who work there hate the bank as much as its customers

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very inefficient! No queue ticket machine, and no one at the service desk. I walked around twice before finally being approached by their customer service representative (possibly, as she didn’t wear any badges). It was two hours before their workday end, and just two people waiting, but I’ve been told it’s not possible to open a bank account. “There’s not enough time, because two of our workers are leaving earlier”. Two out of three. ?
Update: made an appointment for the next day, and finally opened an account. But they won’t give you a card straight away like in most other countries I lived. It will be delivered in 5(!) workdays. Yeah, that’s just a basic debit card. ?
