I have a very bad experience with Inter-Iberica bv. I did not have a direct contractual relationship with the company, but I am the consignee on a pallet shipment from Holland to Italy. Before the loading in Holland I was contacted by a representative from Inter-Iberica bv. who told me he was concerned about the access road to my house. I confirmed that there is a narrow road leading to my house with a restriction of maximum truck length 10m. I consequently suggested that the transport had to be carried accordingly, either the entire way or alternatively by transshipment locally to a suitable vehicle. In an attempt to assist should a local transporter be required, I suggested a local company and provided their contact details. I followed the phone conversation up in writing and asked for an update on arrival time and asked if I could be of further assistance. I did not receive any response until 4 days later when I received a call from the same person I talked to before the loading, informing me that the shipment would arrive a few hours later, but was shipped on a 12 m trailer which could not go to my house. I replied that as discussed before loading my purchase contract states delivery at my address and that since I did not know the terms agreed nor was a party to the contract between Inter-Iberica bv and the shipper, I could only offer contact to a local company who could assist, but the contractual agreements for the transport, and deciding size of truck and which parties to be involved was beyond me. I repeated the contractual delivery I had was to my house and that I would not engage directly in how the transport was carried out. Several phone calls and messages took place between the parties, i.e. the Shipper and me, the shipper and Inter-Iberica, and the seller, throughout Inter-Iberica refused to contact the party I had suggested (I understand they found potential cost excessive) but did not offer any alternative. They simply stated they had no contacts in the area and did not know what to do. Subsequently the same evening, the Inter-Iberica representative telephoned me again and informed me that the shipment had now been delivered to the company I originally suggested and the truck had left. No contract for final delivery had been agreed, since a man at the place had confirmed he knew me and they would handle it directly with me. I now have the choice of either accepting to deal and pay the 3rd party or reject the delivery. Naturally, I am dealing with Shipper on how we resolve this, but the performance and attitude of Inter-Iberica BV has throughout been very unprofessional and with a total lack of initiative and service, not to say in direct violation of delivery obligations towards me as consignee. In no way did the performance of Inter-Iberica B.V. reflect the statements on their web site nor what you should reasonably expect from a company who claims experience in international transportation throughout Europe.
