★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had 3 days to play in Amsterdam before my work began and desperately wanted to paddleboard those famous canals in the world's greatest city. I searched online and several companies were too far away or not open any longer because the summer season was over. Then I found my new hero, Rick. "15:30 Tuesday" with an address on the Amstel River he sent me. This was a solid month before my departure, btw. He was there waiting at a rowing center dockside with great accommodations, showers, lockers, cafe, etc. Found out that he had come from a different town 30 minutes away with a selection of boards and wetsuits for me to choose. He also presented me with a map and a dry box with suggestions for a nice 2 hour paddle, what to do, where to go, what to avoid. I took his advice and enjoyed what I consider an experience of a lifetime. I was the only paddle boarder on the river that day and believe me, I got a lot of interesting looks! Tourist in a wetsuit! People I talked to afterwards assume the water was freezing cold which it wasn't. Rick had everything I needed, the price was perfectly reasonable. When I go back, he will be hearing from me again. Highly recommend!
