Men verdedigt zich door te stellen, dat het een ongebruikelijke vertaling was (van Hebreeuws naar Roemeens), maar op de website beroept Kern zich op haar ruime ervaring, die in dit geval dus kennelijk ontoereikend was. Andere (duurdere) vertaalbureaus hadden van tevoren al hun verbazing uitgesproken, dat Kern dit kon doen voor de eerst afgesproken prijs en kennelijk had men aldaar meer kennis van deze materie dan Kern. Blijft nog over, dat men de vertaling te laat aanleverde, ondanks mijn verzoek per email (en zelfs dat laatste wilde men in eerste instantie ontkennen, men had de email over het hoofd gezien). Advies: prijs afspreken, maar uitdrukkelijk bedingen, dat het een vaste prijs is, die niet kan worden veranderd door omstandigheden waar je als cliënt buiten staat. Ignoring an agreed price due to negligence of the people engaged by Kern does not deserve the beauty prize. One defends itself by stating that it was an unusual translation (from Hebrew to Romanian), but on the website Kern relies on her extensive experience, which in this case was apparently inadequate. Other (more expensive) translation agencies had already expressed their surprise in advance that Kern could do this for the first agreed price and apparently people there had more knowledge of this matter than Kern. What remains is that the translation was delivered too late, despite my request by email (and even the latter they initially wanted to deny, they had overlooked the email). Advice: agree on a price, but explicitly stipulate that it is a fixed price that cannot be changed due to circumstances outside of which you as a client are excluded.

I needed a translation of a birth certificate from Greek to Dutch as soon as possible because I was on a short deadline by the municipality and I received the sworn translation in a perfectly neat folder with a copy of my Greek certificate the next working day. Highly recommended !
