Kinepolis Cinerama - Westblaak 18

There is nice atmosphere of old cinema, friendly staff, comfortable chairs in cinema halls. However this cinema is a bit old. Besides that, I saw a mouse in a cinema hall.

Love this cinema. The people are always friendly and helpful, the place looks old fashioned in a way back comforting way and it's well priced compared to other places. Recommended!!

Cinerama in Downtown Rotterdam is a nice movie theater, very in the old school, American-style movie theaters from the 60's. The picture quality is pretty good so is the sound quality, the rooms aren't that big and they even have an old-fashioned candy counter where you can buy your popcorn or other consumable items. Prices are compared to the other movie theaters in Rotterdam a lot lower. If you are looking for a fun evening going to the movies but want to keep it low cost than is this the movie theatre for you. Cinerama is great budget theatre.

Not a nice experience with the movie Dune. The movie had a weird sound balance. The soundtrack and the effects were too loud compared to dialogues. Some people were also really noisy eating so it was even harder to understand the dialogue. The rest of the cinema is nice and the staff were kind.

Inconsistent QR control checks at the door left me disappointed. Felt discriminated. Genuinely looking forward to visiting Cinerama since I have many fond memories watching films here when I used to annually visit Rotterdam for a few days for the IFFR (International Film Festival). Saturday evening I was refused entrance for not having a physical copy of my ID. I have a clear photo of my ID card and Dutch passport on my phone. I have been using this form to show my ID for the past weeks and have never had an issue or refused entry to any cinemas, venues or restaurants before. I was told by the woman that I needed a physical ID to prove my corona QR check. I had my OV card with my photo, name and DOB. We did not argue and we were not rude. There's no point being negative about policy and its not her fault. She said that this was policy so we went back to the guy in the booth for a refund for the 4 tickets we had reserved online and paid for at the booth prior to the QR control at the foyer. The group of 3 WHITE people who were standing behind us in the queue were having the same issue with their Corona check for not having a physical form of ID. I could see him going through his wallet and not having his ID card. The policy was explained and I could see him arguing/pleading to be let in. It took a while to receuve our refund so we could see the queue behind them increase. As we we received our refund, I could see that the guy who was now controlling at the entrance had let them in. Maybe to diffuse the situation and reduce the queue. Inconsistent controls at the foyer has left me disappointed. I don't normally write reviews but after a few days of thinking about how we were treated differently, has urged me to write this so that hopefully someone at the cinema team can improve the experiences of guests at arrival who love film and old cinemas.

Not to be compared with ultramodern multiplexes of course but this legendary cinema thrives despite the competition: from Art-house to Hollywood, the caption says. Lovely and lively bar-café on the ground floor with very friendly staff. Highly recommended!
