Dit vliegveld was tot 2006 een militair vliegveld in Nederland, in Valkenburg (Zuid-Holland), een dorp dat sinds 2006 deel uitmaakt van de gemeente Katwijk. Op 17 april 1939 werd begonnen met de aanleg van het militaire vliegveld Valkenburg. De aanleg ervan werd uitbesteed aan de Nederlandsche Heidemaatschappij die uit de wijde omgeving ruim duizend, voornamelijk werkloze, arbeiders aantrok om de klus te klaren. De aanleg geschiedde in het kader van een werkverschaffingsproject.
This runway is part of Valkenburg Air Base. This airport was until 2006 a military airport in the Netherlands, in Valkenburg (South Holland), a village that has been part of the municipality of Katwijk since 2006. The construction of the Valkenburg military airfield was started on April 17, 1939. Its construction was outsourced to the Nederlandsche Heidemaatschappij, which recruited more than a thousand, mostly unemployed, workers from the wider area to get the job done. The construction was done in the context of a job creation project.
