Are you crazy about bags and want one that is unique and special? Than why don’t you make one yourself…with a sewing machine! Or are you pregnant or a new mum? Or having kids going to school already? Then you could make al sorts of toys, stuffed animals and clothes with a sewing machine! Do you not know how to and don’t know what it’s capable of? And you want to see if sewing is something you like? Then the Beginners course Basics is what you need! You will learn the basics of sewing in 8 weeks. And at the end of the course you will go home with your first bag or toy, handmade by you!

Step by Step
During the Beginners course Basics you will learn the basic sewing techniques such as using a sewing machine and threading it, choosing a pattern from magazines or books and how to transport it on fabric. You also learn to work on your sewing project in a logical series of steps to make sure that the end result is beautiful.

You will start using the sewing machine in lesson one! During the course you will make some small projects that you can bring home. And, at the end of the course you will work on your own first handbag or toy, handmade by you! During this course you will learn many techniques that you can also apply when you are working behind your sewing machine to make other things like a nice clothes or home decoration. Even making your trousers a bit shorter will be a piece of cake.

Finished the Beginners course Basics and can’t stop sewing? Then you can continue learning in the ongoing sewing lessons, where you can do a follow up sewing program with more advanced projects or you can work more independently on you projects and learn even more techniques.

What to bring?
LieWennies – Handmade by you! wants to show you the fun of sewing all kinds of things yourself! So, during the Beginners course Basics you don’t have to bring anything and you can use the sewing machines, tools and materials present in the studio. You don’t need a sewing machine of your own yet, but of course you can bring yours if you want.

What are the costs?
The Beginners course Basics of 8 lessons costs € 19,- per lesson (incl VAT). Use of sewing machines, patterns and tools as well as coffee and tea are included. Also, the tutorials, fabric and other materials (thread, ribbons, buttons) are included in a Materials set with a total value € 25,-. Total payments before the first sewing course lesson.

When can I join?
The Beginners course Basics will start at different moments in a year. Just apply for the next course and have a look at the calendar for the next starting date. Great! See you soon?

The Beginners course Basics is given in Dutch and in English, depending on the candidates. Even if you don't speak Dutch or just a little (and do speak English) you can join this course.

Daarnaast denkt ze graag met je mee in het kiezen van nieuwe naaiprojecten. Gevorderden en beginners zitten doorelkaar zodat je ook van elkaar kunt leren. Het is ook leuk om te zien wat anderen maken. Zeker een aanrader om hier op naailes te gaan. LieWennies is a very nice and cozy place to learn how to sew. Lieke is very skilled, gives a good explanation and helps you on your way. In addition, she likes to think along with you in choosing new sewing projects. Advanced and beginners sit together so that you can also learn from each other. It is also nice to see what others make. Definitely recommended to go here for sewing lessons.

Daarna kan je doorgaan met projecten (tassen, etuis, clutch, kussens etc) of eigen ideeën. Naaimachines aanwezig!!!! Super fijn. Je hoeft dus niks mee te nemen, alles is aanwezig. Heel fijn zeker voor beginners! Voldoende parkeerplek. Goede uitleg. Leuke stoffen. Nice sewing lessons. Dutch and English. Good relaxed atmosphere. First block (8 lessons) you can choose from "projects". After that you can continue with projects (bags, cases, clutch, pillows etc) or your own ideas. Sewing machines available !!!! Super nice. So you don't have to bring anything, everything is there. Very nice especially for beginners! Plenty of parking space. Good explanation. Nice fabrics.

Ik ben hier begonnen met de beginners curses, waar je aan de hand van een aantal projecten verschillende technieken leert. Lieke heeft alle materialen en gereedschappen in huis, dus je hoeft zelf niks mee te nemen. Na de beginnerscursus ben ik doorgegaan, je kan dan kiezen of je je eigen project bedenkt, of een van de modules kiest, waar je meer technieken leert, zoals bijvoorbeeld een rits in zetten, of met stretchstof werken. Lieke legt goed uit en heeft alles in de gaten, wat ervoor zorgt dat ze op de juiste momenten tips geeft. Ik heb hier al veel geleerd, en ben zeker van plan nog even door te gaan. Very nice lessons. You sit together with a maximum of 6 students at a large table, which creates a cozy atmosphere. I started here with the beginners curses, what you learn on the basis of a number of projects of different techniques. Lieke has all the materials and tools at home, so you do yourself nothing to carry. After the beginners course I went ahead, you can then choose whether you come up with your own project, or choose one of the modules, where you learn more techniques, such as putting a zipper in, or working with stretch fabric. Lieke explains well and has an eye on everything, which ensures that she gives tips at the right times. I've learned a lot here, and I definitely plan a moment go by.

Ik heb gekozen voor deze naaicurus omdat deze compleet wordt aangeboden, dus incl. naaimachines (om te gebruiken) en materialen.Toen ik begon voelde ik me er gelijk thuis. De opzet is knus, je zit met z'n allen aan één grote tafel, maar dit werkt fijn omdat je op deze manier nog meer van elkaar kunt leren, ook omdat beginners en gevorderden door elkaar zitten. De eerste cursus werk je volgens een bepaalde opzet waarin je de basis leert, zoals omgaan met een naaimachine (inrijgen ed) en het maken van kleine projecten (zoals een speldenkussen en tasjes). De vervolgcursus kun je zelf indelen aan de hand van modules. Ik zit er nu al af en aan meer als een jaar en leer nog elke keer bij. Ik breng mijn eigen projecten mee en als ik vragen heb krijg ik daar altjid antwoord op. Sinds ik begonnen ben heb ik al verschillende jurkjes, truien en zelfs jassen voor mijn kindjes gemaakt. The setup is cozy, you are all sitting at one large table, but this works well because you can learn more from each other in this way, also because beginners and advanced are mixed up. The first course you work according to a specific set-up in which you learn the basics, such as dealing with a sewing machine (threading, etc.) and making small projects (such as a pincushion and bags). You can organize the follow-up course yourself using modules. I have been off and on for over a year now and still learn every time. I bring my own projects and if I have any questions I always get an answer. Since I started I have made various dresses, sweaters and even coats for my children.

Begonnen aan de cursus met nul ervaring, tijdens de cursus leer je verschillende naaitechnieken en kun je na slechts 8 lessen al verschillende tassen en knuffels maken. Er wordt zelfstandig en op eigen tempo gewerkt aan projecten door de cursisten, begeleiding en uitleg is duidelijk en persoonlijk. Naaimachines aanwezig en een hele grote keus aan materiaal en stoffen. Learned a lot from Liewennies. Started the course with zero experience, during the course you will learn different sewing techniques and after only 8 lessons you can already make different bags and cuddly toys. Students work independently and at their own pace on projects, guidance and explanation is clear and personal. Sewing machines available and a very large choice of materials and fabrics.
L	Lizen Jansen on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Vriendelijke vrouw. Jammer dat de reeks in 1x betaald moest worden en ik en mijn vriendin het niet eerst mochten uitproberen om te kijken of het beviel. Toen we in de laatste week van de reeks de inhaalles met haar niet ingepland kregen, konden we ons geld van die les dus ook niet terug krijgen. Verder had ik wel meer begeleiding verwacht voor een beginnerscursus. De les begon wekelijks om 19.30 uur en vaak waren we pas 20 minuten later echt aan de slag omdat we haar hulp nodig hadden. Dit kwam mede doordat we meer verspreid zaten vanwege corona. Wanneer het dan 21.30 uur was, werd ook direct door haar verzocht om te stoppen en op te ruimen. Er was ook weinig ruimte voor eigen creativiteit/ invulling tijdens de lessen omdat de bedoeling was dat we een vast programma volgde. Uiteindelijk zijn we alleen maar met tassen bezig geweest, terwijl onze interesse lag bij kleding. Voor ons niet de plek om in het naaien verder te gaan ontwikkelen. Friendly woman. It is a pity that the series had to be paid in one go and I and my girlfriend were not allowed to try it out first to see if I liked it. When we did not get the catch-up lesson scheduled with her in the last week of the series, we could not get our money back for that lesson. Furthermore, I had expected more guidance for a beginners course. The class started weekly at 7:30 pm and often we didn't really get started until 20 minutes later because we needed her help. This was partly because we were more spread out because of corona. When it was 9.30 pm, she also immediately asked to stop and clean up. There was also little room for our own creativity / interpretation during the lessons because we were supposed to follow a fixed program. In the end, we were only concerned with bags, while our interest was with clothing. Not the place for us to develop further in sewing.

De naailessen zijn opgebouwd uit series van 8 weken, waarin je erg veel kunt leren. Ik ben met 0 ervaring begonnen met de beginnerscursus met mijn eigen naaimachine. Aan het eind van deze cursus kon ik zelf al knuffels en tasjes naaien (zie ook de foto's). Je zit in een gezellige setting met maximaal 6 cursisten waardoor er voor elke cursist genoeg tijd en ruimte is om vragen te stellen en uitleg te krijgen. Door de duidelijke handleidingen (in Nederlands en in Engels) kun je thuis ook nog verder aan je projecten werken als je dat wil (en heb je een naslagwerk om later je project nog een keer te maken (als cadeautje bijvoorbeeld)). Na de beginnerscursus kun je ervoor kiezen om projecten van Lieke zelf te maken waardoor je nieuwe technieken leert, maar je kunt ook je eigen creaties en ideeën meenemen, waarbij Lieke je graag terzijde staat bij het uitvoeren. De lessen van Lieke vind ik echt een aanrader, in een gezellige setting leren naaien met duidelijke uitleg. Super! I've been taking sewing lessons at Liewennies for almost a year now, and I like it very much. The sewing lessons are made up of series of 8 weeks, in which you can learn a lot. I started the beginners course with my own sewing machine with 0 experience. At the end of this course I was already able to sew stuffed animals and bags myself (see also the photos). You are in a cozy setting with a maximum of 6 students, so that there is enough time and space for each student to ask questions and receive explanations. Thanks to the clear manuals (in Dutch and in English) you can also continue to work on your projects at home if you want (and you have a reference book to make your project again later (as a gift for example)). After the beginners course you can choose to make projects of Lieke yourself so that you learn new techniques, but you can also bring your own creations and ideas, where Lieke is happy to assist you in the implementation. I really recommend Lieke's lessons, learning to sew in a cozy setting with clear explanations. Super!
