★ ★ ★ ★ ★ TL;DR - we probably pay too much rent, and in trying to get the rent lowered, the company does not respect the fact another party is doing the negotiating for us.
When I signed the lease for my apartment, I thought Wonen Hartje Rotterdam was there to help me, but throughout living there, my dissatisfaction grew. The house is really nice, but there are some minor issues. When I sent an email about to the middleman between me and my landlord, this apparently was forwarded to WHR, who responded with an email showing little signs of willingness to look for solutions that work for both of us. After asking for our permission, WHR also brought us into contact with a company that could help us set up utility contracts, but those people turned out to be quite aggressive in their sales techniques. These issues didn't really bother me, until we found out we were also paying too much for the palce.
After living in the house for a few month, we were informed by multiple parties that the rental price was legally too high. The municipality registered us with another company that would investigate it, and if needed would start a procedure to lower the rent. After the procedure was instigated, I was called by WHR in an attempt to negotiate with us directly about a new price, even though we already had another party negotiating with our middleman. We negotiations are not finished yet, so we do not know how big the discrepancy is between the legally allowed rental price and the price we pay now.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you are considering renting out your apartment, I highly recommend using Wonen Hartje Rotterdam. Bastiaan did an amazing job managing my apartment while I was working abroad for 2 years. He found me two good tenants and took care of all matters. It’s great to have someone who’s taking all matters at hand so I am completely care free and don’t have to deal with, or worry about what’s happening with my apartment. Bastiaan’s involvement included dealing with some small repairs and maintenance but also a more complex issue with a severe leakage that turned out to be on the account of the ‘VVE’ (association of owners). Bastiaan managed everything perfectly, chased the VVE manager multiple times, worked with contractors and got everything dealt with. I honestly never lost a minute of sleep due to my apartment and that’s where you are looking if you let someone manage your apartment.
