★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Malabar is the Skybar of the new Jakarta hotel on Java island in Amsterdam - named after the volcano on Java island - Indonesia. It affords gorgeous views over the IJ river, somewhat obscured at night by the many lights mounted in the windows. The cocktails are imaginative and VERY generous. The signature Malabar cocktail is enough for two and in fact served in a big dish with two straws. The bartender is ambitious and even remade my Pisco Sour twice to make it perfect.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is really something special. One of those destination type bars that we were fortunate enough to have serve as our hotel bar. The cocktails were all unique and perfectly crafted. Not to mention each one its own interesting glassware! We visited once for a breathtaking view @ sunset and once after a night of partying our way through Amsterdam.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The bar employee MAR(I)K and his colleague are extremely rude, they act very unprofessional. They gave us a table at the window but changed their mind when a couple came in behind us and said we had to move to the back of the bar all of a sudden. Never experienced something like that. Worst bar experience I have ever had in my life. Just shockingly bad!!
