★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very enterprising fishing village. What amuses me is the typical wealth show by fishing community, I have seen the same trend in the fishing community in a lot of countries.. The place is beautiful.. it's clean and serene. People are very smart, cheerful, shrewd and thrifty. A good place to walk around and fill your stomach.
The cheese factory is a very interesting place to visit. I am totally impressed by the combined effort by tourist operators and the local community to convert this place into a thriving tourist spot.

Marken is known in particular for its authentic, colorful timber houses, white drawbridges, and fishing harbor. Marken was separated from the mainland in the 13th century by a storm. There then followed centuries of isolation for the population, who earned their daily bread by fishing. Marken was only connected to the mainland in 1957 by building an embankment, and has been a peninsula since then. Nonetheless, Marken has still kept its authentic character and the residents cherish their traditions.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ So quaint! Amazing little village!! So beautiful and breathtaking! Great beer and apple pie! A must see if you don't mind a little walk into the village. Hotel in the village was beautiful from the outside but we didn't stay the night. I would definitely come back!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really quaint place, also shop making and selling clogs. At the harbour there are 2 restaurants, one overlooking the water, good food! Ferry to Volendam which takes 20 minutes.
