★ ★ ★ ★ ★ As a native English speaker living near Amsterdam and having two non-Dutch-speaking children in Dutch school, it became apparent that there was a need to learn the language in order to navigate the Dutch school, healthcare, and social system. Google translate and dictionaries are incredibly frustrating when it is imperative you get the translation correct! I knew I wanted to learn to speak the language of the country I now resided, but I was utterly lost at where to start. I was fortunate to find Mercuur Taal – the classes are fun and easy, and the instructor takes the time to explain the reasons behind the confusing grammar rules of Dutch. Classes involve a lot of interaction between classmates where you can try out your newly learned Dutch on each other in a non-intimidating environment. The limited number of students in each group allows for a more personalized and individually-focused education, and the affordable cost for the course makes it a very simple and easy way to learn Dutch!

As student studying in English school and living in the Netherlands for about three years, never had a Dutch course, but tried learning by myself, memorizing vocabulary, listening to conversations for quiet sometimes, still couldn't speak Dutch.
I have decided to find a valuable Dutch course in Amsterdam and after quite research found the best one; Mercuurtaal Dutch private school.
For me Mercuurtaal Dutch school had many advantages among other institutes in Amsterdam. Firstly great location in center of Amsterdam, easily to access and affordable fee for students; the teacher is very experienced, enthusiastic and patient.
In weekly classes we were required some effort, but the benefits began almost immediately as you interact with fellow students while learning the language. I gained confidence in communicating with people at work and in neighborhood, with Dutch friends.
With all kinds of subjects were discussed in small groups, it was great benefit for me and everyone was quite active by involving in beneficial exercises.
Learning to speak some Dutch at Mercuur taal can positively impact your experience in Amsterdam.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ When they say that you don't need to learn Dutch when you move to the Netherlands, they are very wrong. Go ahead and learn the language. Your experience in the Netherlands will be a lot better. Mercuur Taal is a great school. Teachers are excellent. I had the best experience at a very competitive price. Amazing location. Best school in town !

Location is very convenient ( by public transport, bike, car..) and all our teachers are very knowledgeable, helpful and flexible.
Because of COVID-19 all our classes continued online, our teachers adjusted fast to this "new" way of learning and made it engaging, efficient and funny at the same time.
We made a great progress in a very short time period!
