β β β β β De molen wordt gerund door de enthousiaste molenaar Maarten. Je kunt het huren als huisje voor een verblijf aan bijvoorbeeld Amsterdam. Het ligt prachtig en rustig aan het water terwijl Amsterdam om de hoek is. Het heeft drie slaapkamers en is sfeervol ingericht. De gemaalmolen is nog echt werkend. Absolute aanrader.
 The mill is run by the enthusiastic miller Maarten. You can rent it as a cottage for a stay in Amsterdam, for example. It is beautifully and quietly on the water while Amsterdam is around the corner. It has three bedrooms and is tastefully decorated. The mill is still really working. Absolute must.

β β β β β The ultimate in relaxation. It's not every day you get to stay in a 19th century windmill! The facilities are excellent, although they are, as you must expect, fitted in to a more or less round shape. Comfortable furniture, excellent kitchen, in spite of being a little small. Beds superb. The one on the second floor is quite palatial. There are low beams everywhere that you have to watch out for and the stairs are steep but, hey, it's a windmill!
The windmill's warden is fascinating and happy to spend time telling you about its history and showing how it works. He also keeps a small flock of ancient rare breed goats in a field next to the windmill.
The setting is truly breathtaking. On one side is a medium sized river where you can swim. On the other side is a vista of hundreds of acres of grass meadows with cows and lots of birds (one morning we saw 16 Great Egrets in one field) but you need to take a good pair of binoculars as you have a clear view of about 2k across the fields.
You can hire bikes at the windmill and the roads and lanes are great for cycling. The windmill is about 2km from the station at Abcoude so, unless you come by car, be prepared for a walk of about 30 minutes when you arrive and leave. The rest of the time you can use the bikes.
We had great weather which certainly helped and we had a truly lovely time with our children and their families. Magical.

β β β β β Absolutely loved staying here for a long weekend. Absolutely beautiful and charming experience. The Windmill itself was a delight. Surrounded by beautiful grazing land with animals. And walking distance to delicious farm to table restaurant. Best of all - they let us turn on the windmill and it functions beautifully. Best vacation in years!
