Left side inscription reads: “De zee geeft noordwijk leven maar toen de wereld brandde legdd zij haar doden beneden u op grenzenloze.” (The sea gives Noordwijk life, but when the world burned, she laid her dead beneath you on boundless.)

First World War memorial in memory of three English warships that were sunk by a German submarine, in which no fewer than 1459 lives were lost. 143 of them are buried at the General Cemetery in Noordwijk.
