Wim Berkelmans werkte tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog bij het gemeentelijke bureau Bevolking in Tilburg. Hij bood hulp aan Joden en onderduikers. Hij was tevens samen met Toon van Beek, Rob van Spaendonck, Harry Verbunt en nog een paar anderen verantwoordelijk voor de mislukte aanslag op 21 januari 1944 op de Tilburgse SDer Piet Gerrits. Deze aanslag mislukte en alle vier deze mannen doken onder. Later zijn zij opgepakt en gevangen genomen in de Polizeigefängnis und Untersuchungs Gefängnis in Haaren. Op 24 mei werden ze veroordeeld en samen met nog tien andere verzetsstrijders werden ze op 26 mei in de Drunense duinen gefusilleerd.

Wim Berkelmans worked during the Second World War at the municipal office of Population in Tilburg. He offered help to Jews and people in hiding. Together with Toon van Beek, Rob van Spaendonck, Harry Verbunt and a few others, he was responsible for the failed attack on 21 January 1944 on the SDer Piet Gerrits from Tilburg. This attack failed and all four of these men went into hiding. They were later arrested and imprisoned in the Polizeigefängnis und Untersuchungs Gefängnis in Haaren. They were convicted on 24 May and, together with ten other resistance fighters, they were shot in the Drunense dunes on 26 May.
