"Tijdens zijn werk in het landelijke Huijbergen ervoer pastoor Machielse het landschap hier als te weids en open. Op zijn initiatief is daarom een kruisbeeld gebouwd. De wijding vond plaats in 1934. In 1967 werd een nieuw kruisbeeld gemaakt dat in 1980 zijn huidige plaats kreeg met toevoeging van coniferen en een muurtje. Het kruisbeeld is een herkenningspunt gebleven in het hedendaagse landschap."
The sign reads:
"During his work in rural Huijbergen, Pastor Machielse experienced the landscape here as too wide and open. That is why a crucifix was built on his initiative. The consecration took place in 1934. A new crucifix was made in 1967, which was given its current position in 1980. with the addition of conifers and a small wall. The crucifix has remained a landmark in the contemporary landscape."
