★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This town was a great find. Was browsing looking for places to stop on way to Fort Bourtange and someone mentioned this place. Glad we went, even in off season it is clearly a locals secret. An old Dutch town as it was hundreds of years ago. Small cafés and interactive old buildings closed when we were there but look charming. Definitely worth the drive, the farm roads to the north are also a treat to drive.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Surprisingly wide range of activities, museums and shops. This village is largely self-sufficient because there is no entrance fee. They charge for parking and whatever activity you may choose, like a mini zoo, an old farm, a cheese/dairy shop, a museum of old (toy) trucks, etc.
