Over de naam Narline
Narline ligt in Ten Arlo en is gevestigd in een Rijks monumentaal, traditioneel ambachtelijk gebouwde stijl, boerderijencomplex uit 1768 van het zogenaamde hallenhuistype. Van de meer dan 120 rijksmonumenten in de gemeente De Wolden zijn er meerdere te vinden in het buurschap Ten Arlo. Deze kleine buurtschap ten noorden van Zuidwolde heeft sinds 1991 de status ‘beschermd dorpsgezicht’ en is tevens aangemerkt als archeologisch waardevol gebied. Narline ligt op de Zuidwolder stuwwal. Op deze stuwwal hebben zich, omstreeks 3000 jaar voor Christus, hunebedbouwers (mensen uit de Trechterbekercultuur) gevestigd en nadien is deze streek altijd bewoond gebleven. In de boerderij aan de Hoogeveenseweg 17 kunt u lunchen en dineren onder de eeuwenoude gebinten. De boerderij is in 2019 volledig verbouwd, veel oude elementen zijn gerestaureerd en weer zichtbaar gemaakt.
De naam Ten Arlo betekent ‘arendsbos’. In de 16e en 17e eeuw werd Ten Arlo Narle of NARLINE genoemd. Daar komt de naam van ons horecabedrijf vandaan. Een naam met geschiedenis op een prachtige plek in onze mooie ‘Oerprovincie’ Drenthe.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Picked up the culinary box with 14 different dishes today. Also got an additional Tom Kha Kai soup, total 90EUR for three.
Good portions, good flavours, some dishes only needed some heating in the oven. Really enjoyed, specially as we've not been able to go for dinner for so long now.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Narline offers a fabulous takeaway service during the pandemic lockdown of 2020/2021. Their tasting box (proeverij) of a mere 25 euros per person contains 14 dishes of very high quality and more than sufficient quantity. During pickup of the food one can still get a glimpse of their highly attractive venue in a monumental farmhouse dating back to 1768. Despite sone busyness everything was organised very safely including a one-way routing through their premises. Very well done!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had a terrible experience here. The service was horrible, started off with waiting 10 mins to receive a lunch menu, a further 10 mins for the server to take my order and than finally a thirty!! Minute wait for a sandwich! Couldn’t even get the attention of my server.
A group of people seated 15 minutes after me received their chefs menu lunch plates 15 minutes before I received the chicken sandwich. I nearly left after having been there for 40 minutes but all the reviews I read were of high praise.
The servers were not friendly, no “welcome”, “hello”, “apologies for the wait”, “would you like a refill”. This would be forgivable if the food was actually good.
The chicken sandwich was ok.
The bread wasn’t cut evenly, the top half ended up getting soggy and the bottom was dry. The chicken was a weird processed rectangle of beige, I don’t think a subway would even use something like that.
Prices were reasonable, but expected more (Side salad or fries with).
Very bilingual staff.
Everyone else around me seemed to be having a great experience, very attentive staff and good looking food, not sure why I couldn’t get that experience.
