Wegblijven!! Gewaarschuwd mens telt voor twee. Na de herstelwerkzaamheden toch niet akkoord zijn met de vooraf goedgekeurde offerte door de verzekeringsagent. Ze wilden het eerst achteraf op een te hoog uurloon van de dakdekker gooien. Daarna verschuilen zich achter een artikel (huisverbetering) om je alsnog 30% minder te vergoeden. Je kunt het er mee doen, in protest gaan zal weinig zin hebben.

I joined the insurance in 2013 buying their full package: house, garden, glass, personal liability,legal etc. Although they were always slow responding..before 2017 they used to honor the occasional claim. This year, they have been completely useless. I made 2 claims which I believe were covered: broken garden furniture and a broken door lock. They did not honor a single one of them. For the garden damage they gave no reason to not honor it..which was odd as the year before they paid back on an identical claim. For the lock they started bringing up all kinds of excuses such as 'wear and tear' or 'external to the property' (for a broken door lock). For the sake of comparison, I have contacted Central Beheer Achmea and provided them with the claims I made to NH1816 to get their thoughts, and they said they were obvious valid claims. I also provided NH1816 with the service of a professional lock smith to assess if the damage I sustained was Wear and Tear or not - but they rejected his opinion. They take days to answer emails which is very frustrating if you have an open case: the door lock claim was done in mid-April up to today they are still coming up with excuses. They refuse to help out on the phone - which I find rude and unprofessional. I actually ended up paying 2 months extra insurance just to wait for them to answer. They also expect a month payment before you can cancel with them. I have looked at several reviews from them on other sites and here and apparently people are having similar experiences. My recommendation: stay away from them. There are other insurances which are similarly priced and which offer more courteous service. To give a better understanding. A claim submitted on April 12th got delayed until June 2nd until I got a notification that I wasn't getting paid. This means I paid for 2 extra months of insurance without getting anything back. Update 2: They asked me to send a complaint to their website. I did so in English. I got 2 automatic replies that ensured me that the email was sent. The day after I got an email in Dutch from their receptionist saying that they will respond in 5 business days. They did not respond in 5 business days. When they eventually did respond, the response was in Dutch and it just absolved them of all wrong doings.

Avoid this company. I'm insured with this company for almost all of my insurances for a year. I had one accident (broken door lock) and tried to claim it. What I got from them is "if insurance companies start to compensate things like this, they will all go bankcrupt." I tried to ask for an English explanation for my insurance policies, they refuse to do so with a VERY RUDE tone "The policy is in Dutch, go contact your agent".
