Een serieuze ontmoeting gelardeerd met mooie verhalen over de geschiedenis van de kerk en het dorpje Deersum. De mensen hadden alle tijd voor ons. Zo gastvrij. Dank jullie wel. My mother's church ... visiting the presbyter's couple who happened to be in the church in preparation for the Sunday service. A serious meeting interspersed with beautiful stories about the history of the church and the village of Deersum. The people had plenty of time for us. So hospitable. Thank you.

De eenbeukige romaanse kerk met halfrond (vierzijdig) gesloten koor en zadeldaktoren is gebouwd in de 13e eeuw. De kerk heeft vier gotische spitsboogvensters uit de 16e eeuw in de zuidgevel en een ouder rondboogvenster in de noordgevel. De ingang is aan de zuidzijde. De gotische poort van de 15e eeuw aan de noordzijde is dichtgemetseld. In de kerk bevindt zich een preekstoel uit de 19e eeuw en een piscina in het koor. Het orgel uit 1875 is gemaakt door Adema. De kerk is een rijksmonument. The church was originally dedicated to Nicholas of Myra. The single-nave Romanesque church with hemisphere (four-sided) closed choir and gable roof tower was built in the 13th century. The church has four Gothic pointed arch windows from the 16th century in the south façade and an older round arch window in the north façade. The entrance is on the south side. The gothic gate of the 15th century on the north side is bricked up. In the church there is a pulpit from the 19th century and a piscina in the choir. The organ from 1875 was made by Adema. The church is a national monument.
