Feel like Napoleon Bonaparte who paid a visit here in 1811. Het Brabantse dorp Nieuwendijk is in de zeventiende eeuw ontstaan langs de gelijknamige dijk, die in 1646 gereedkwam. Door deze dijk kon een poldergebied worden ontgonnen - het Nieuwland van Altena - dat op het open Biesboschwater werd heroverd.
