★ ★ ★ ★ ★ De Oudshoornse kerk is één van de oudste gebouwen van de gemeente Alphen aan den Rijn. De Ambachtsheer van Oudshoorn, Cornelis de Vlaming wonende in Amsterdam, vroeg en kreeg in 1661 toestemming van de Staten van Holland en West‑Friesland een eigen kerkgebouw te stichten.
De 42.000 gulden kostende kerk met school, pastorie en kosterswoning werd voor het merendeel door de ambachtsheer zelf gefinancierd.
Als bouwmeester werd Daniël Stalpaert aangetrokken en de eerste steen werd gelegd in 1663. Na ruim twee jaar, op 12 oktober 1665, werd het kerkgebouw, dat een opmerkelijke verwantschap met de later gebouwde Amsterdamse Oosterkerk vertoont, in gebruik genomen. De grondvorm van de kerk is een Grieks kruis, overdekt door twee schilddaken met een achtkantig torentje. Het kleurrijke interieur met zijn gebrandschilderde glazen zorgt voor een uniek schouwspel. De huidige klok om te luiden is van 1835.
De eerste restauratie van de Oudshoornse Kerk vond plaats in 1855. Van 1979 tot 1983 werd de kerk opnieuw gerestaureerd, waarmee ruim zes miljoen gulden gemoeid was.
The Oudshoorn church is one of the oldest buildings in the municipality of Alphen aan den Rijn. The Craftsman of Oudshoorn, Cornelis de Vlaming living in Amsterdam, asked and was granted permission in 1661 by the States of Holland and West Friesland to found his own church building.
Most of the 42,000 guilders church with school, rectory and sexton's house was financed by the craftsman himself.
Daniël Stalpaert was recruited as a master builder and the foundation stone was laid in 1663. After more than two years, on October 12, 1665, the church building, which shows a remarkable relationship with the later built Amsterdam Oosterkerk, was taken into use. The basic shape of the church is a Greek cross, covered by two hipped roofs with an octagonal turret. The colorful interior with its stained glass makes for a unique spectacle. The current bell to ring is from 1835.
The first restoration of the Oudshoornse Kerk took place in 1855. From 1979 to 1983, the church was restored again, which involved more than six million guilders.
