★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Zelf was ik al aardig begaan op de piano maar Willem heeft mij naar een hoger niveau gebracht. In een paar minuten heeft hij mij kunnen leren dat je voor het stuk Pannonica van Monk, niet altijd de terts hoeft te spelen in de linker hand. Enkel de 1 en de 7 is voldoende voor dit stuk, hiermee verklap je de melodie van het stuk niet, omdat deze vol zit met tertsen en dus referenties naar het karakter van het akkoord.
Je krijgt les achter een prachtige Steinway vleugel, waarvan ik mij toch elk les weer afvraag; hoe heeft hij die in dat kamertje gekregen?

In a few minutes he was able to teach me that you don't always have to play the third in the left hand for Pannonica by Monk. Only the 1 and 7 is sufficient for this piece, this does not reveal the melody of the piece, because it is full of thirds and therefore references to the character of the chord.
You will be taught behind a beautiful Steinway grand piano, of which I wonder every lesson; how did he get it in that little room?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have really enjoyed my lessons with Willem. He is very friendly, patient and encouraging. He knows everything about music and challenges me all the time. He helps me simplify complex songs into understandable chunks which allows me bridge from “unable to play” to actually playing. Most importantly the lessons are inspiring to practice outside the “classroom” and provide enough practice material to go on. After a couple of months I can say that he has helped me stop murdering (jazz) songs that I play. As a result I enjoy playing more than ever before!
