First Bulgarian School "ABV" in Amsterdam, the Netherlands is an official educational institution at the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Bulgaria. It was established in 2013 by the Association "Bulgarian Education and Culture", registered and organized according to the rules and requirements of the Bulgarian Ministry of Education, concerning Bulgarian Sunday schools abroad. The school offers training in Bulgarian language, Literature, History and Geography of Bulgaria for children from 1st to 12th grade, speaking or not Bulgarian. What groups for the little ones are there in our school? "Tiny" is a group for little ones from 2 to 4 years, the preparatory group - for children from 4 to 6 years, and a preschool group - for children aged 5-6-7. An integral part of the training we offer are the classes for extracurricular activities. In the applied arts classes, through games, songs, dances, fairy tales and theatrical scenes, children more easily understand and enrich their knowledge of the language. The school year 2020-2021 will be successfully completed by about 160 children aged 2 to 18, who are divided into classes and groups, depending on the level of proficiency in the Bulgarian language. For some groups and classes there is a waiting list for the new school year. We have entrusted the training of your children to qualified teachers, and the extracurricular activities - to long-term specialists in the field of applied arts, painting, music, singing and folk dances. The classes are held every Sunday from 13.00 to 17.00 and are in accordance with the regulated holiday periods for the other Amsterdam schools. The curricula are developed in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Science for the education of Bulgarians abroad, but are so redesigned and adapted by each teacher that they are adequate for children living in a multilingual environment. All textbooks and teaching aids are published by the Ministry of Education and Science. The school also has a rich children's library! It so happens that one day an eagle chases a sparrow and it manages to hide in the branches of the tree. The tree came to life, felt useful, necessary, necessary; it dropped leaves and twigs, awoke to new life, and its shadow sheltered and gave protection and comfort. With attention, with curiosity about the secrets of the books and with love for those who revealed them to us in class and we sparrows, we huddle in the palms of our favorite school. With each passing year, it is revived by the chirping of new flocks, sheltered in its life-giving embrace. Thank you, school! Thank you, teachers, secret narrators!
