★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wat er over blijft als de tijd doorgaat: in een ver verleden, zo'n 600 jaar terug werd hier kasteel Groenestein gebouwd, een aantal gebouwen op een omgracht terrein. Midden 18e eeuw waren de smaken veranderd, het onderhoud niet meer haalbaar en de ruimtes te groot: het kasteel werd verbouwd tot landhuis. Honderd jaar later was het verval daarvan zo ver, dat de boel werd gesloopt. Alleen dit poortgebouw, nu onderdeel van landgoed Sandenburg, herinnert nog aan andere tijden. Mooie poort, goed onderhouden, het toegangshek is in de regel gesloten. Honderd meter verder start een wandelroute.
 What remains as time passes: in the distant past, some 600 years ago, Groenestein Castle was built here, a number of buildings on a moated site. In the mid-18th century, tastes had changed, maintenance was no longer feasible and the rooms were too large: the castle was converted into a country house. A hundred years later, its decline was so far that it was demolished. Only this gatehouse, now part of the Sandenburg estate, reminds us of other times. Beautiful gate, well maintained, the entrance gate is generally closed. A walking route starts a hundred meters further.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just east of the Sandenburg estate is a beautiful stone gate, built on a stone arch bridge, close to the road from Nederlangbroek to Overlangbroek. The gate dates from 1617 and was restored in the last century. Above the gate entrance is the coat of arms of the Knight of Groenesteyn.
The gate visible from the road is the only surviving building that was part of the original Groenesteyn castle built in 1477.
