★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Toren is normaal gesloten. Wel kun je de trap ervan beklimmen maar er is door de bomen niet echt een uitzicht.
De toren zelf heeft opmerkelijke verhalen over het gebruik ervan, maar deze moet je helaas uit reisboekjes halen omdat er geen bordje bij was
Tower is normally closed. You can climb the stairs but there is not really a view through the trees.
The tower itself has remarkable stories about its use, but unfortunately you have to get it from travel books because there was no sign

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 5 sterren. Niet omdat de toren zo spectaculair is. Maar kom je over de Maasbrug, is dit het eerste wat je eigenlijk ziet van Roermond. Met erachter meteen de kathedraal. Dat maakt een mooie indruk van een best wel mooie plaats.
5 stars. Not because the tower is so spectacular. But if you cross the Maas Bridge, this is the first thing you actually see in Roermond. With the cathedral immediately behind it. That makes a nice impression of a pretty nice place.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Doet z'n naam eer aan. Een poosje geleden moest ik onder de brug schuilen met de hond voor de zware regenbui die uit het niet kwam. Mijn hond ging opeens te keer. Schiet er een rat voorbij. Een rat die zo groot was als een stoeptegel. En dat is niet overdreven. En ja, het was écht een rat.
Lives up to its name. A while ago I had to take shelter under the bridge with the dog from the heavy rain that came out of nowhere. My dog suddenly freaked out. Shoot a rat past it. A rat the size of a paving stone. And that's no exaggeration. And yes, it really was a rat.
