★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Well, I’m a mobile photographer but likely to purchase a DSLR in coming months. “First Aid for Photographers” is a very good e-book for me.
As a beginner, I’ll be able to use my DSLR without any issues as this guide helped me understanding various elements of camera, how to use them and when to use.
It also gave the ideas how to take photos in different scenarios, what angle we need to beautify the moment more, etc.
Hence, this is a guide that every beginner should have all the time.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I recently got in contact with RAWSTER from a book called FIRST AID FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS - The photography book that helps you pick the right camera settings by Mark de Rooij. As the subtitle announces, this is a book for beginners. Nevertheless, it is an essential pierce of work that should suit photographers of all levels. Even if you dominate the settings of your camera, the peculiarities of each photographic style can sometimes make that photo you are trying to master, tough! I say this because the second part of the book approaches each style individually and gives you easy and clear tips to photograph the many faces of landscape & nature, animals, people, city and more with perfection.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I’ve just finished the Basic Photography Course. It was a nice time and I really liked it. Photography was my big dream since I can remember, but I didn’t know how to begin. It seemed very difficult to learn. This course solves that problem. It includes all the most important information to start - from how many types of cameras you have, holding your camera in the right way, the important rules of reaching right exposure to another important settings and camera’s accessories. I’m glad, because the program doesn’t teach only that technical stuff, but it is also about the right composition - a few tricks and rules which let you take more beautiful pictures.
The course is divided into short parts and chapters with description of what that section is about. It was helpful, because I could decide how to organize my course and how much time I’ll spend. Another day I was able to start from the same point where I left it, because sections I already watched were marked.
The teacher of this course seems to be a very nice guy, who explains everything with calm and kind voice. He talks about difficult things in a very clear way. He speaks English with a strong non-native accent, but without using all that difficult and sophisticated words. His language was simple and that allowed me to understand everything. I think it could be even more helpful if there was an option to add English subtitles if needed.
A great plus was the presentation. It’s typical and known thing that people can remember more details when they see them. So, the pictures used to show options of camera, photos which were taken with various settings of exposure – thanks to that fact a student can see the difference (sometimes very gentle) between those settings and understand them.
After every important section, there were a few assignments to do. A fact, that they were ordered that way, was very clever, because after every dose of theory student immediately had an opportunity to practice. Assignments were not complicated and did not require any special conditions. You had to simply go out with your camera handheld and just take a lot of photos!
I think it was a nice, well-spend time that allowed me to gain helpful and basic knowledge. This is a very beginning of my adventure with photography and the course is dedicated for those kind of people. There is nothing left for me, but to take my camera and practice what I just have learned.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I consider myself an intermediate amateur photographer and I was reviewing this book, ‘First Aid For Photographers’, as a textbook for beginners, it fills this role admirably and I came away with learning quite a few things that will help me in my leisure photography. The author uses an easy style of explanation without any technical jargon and each subject is backed up with a summary ‘cheat sheet’ that can be used as a quick reference for that particular style of photography. I think the cost is reasonable if you take into account the amount of information that it contains and I can recommend it for making full use of your new camera.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ “First Aid for Photographers” is a great e-book for any beginner to learn the concepts of photography and your camera without technical jargon to confuse you.
It is well written, easy to understand with adequate explanations and examples for each topic covered a summary is also provided at the end which will help you to quickly adjust your settings in the field if required. Would recommend this e-book to anyone just starting out on their photographic journey.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a great course for beginners. I'd give it a 4.5 out of 5 :-)
Strengths:
- Lots of homework assignments, with feedback from the instructor.
- Lots of information — he goes into nearly every camera function in great detail.
- Mark is a good teacher — I could tell that he's spent time thinking about the order in which to introduce each topic — very pedagogical.
- Mark integrates the information — for example, he doesn't just teach what's aperture — he'll discuss depth of field, and how focal length, distance from the subject, and aperture interact, and the effects it has on what the camera will capture.
Room for improvement.
- I'd comment on the language — Mark is not a native speaker, so the language doesn't always flow very well; he told me he's hired someone to edit the text though, so that problem should be fixed.
- I found some of the videos too long, though that might have been just because I'm not a complete beginner.
Enjoy :-)
