β β β β β My camera slipped when I was bent down low to get a tall building into shot. I was sitting on a street bench at the time, and wearing the neck strap, but I wasn't quick enough to stop the end of the lens hitting the street cobbles.
The camera still worked fine but would stick at one point of focus, making a bad grating noise. We took it in to ROFA, who came back to us with an estimate for the work after taking a good look at it.
It's not cheap, (what is when it comes to DSLR Cameras?) but the lens movement was as smooth as silk when it came back, and I'm happy to know that they took care of everything before one point of damage could turn into further, more expensive complications.
The staff were excellent, friendly and accommodating when I mentioned that I was going to really need my camera for a special family event, they said that if no spare parts needed to be ordered, then they would do their very very best to get the repair done in time. I was in luck, the repair was done with more than a week to spare.
One small point: it is a pity that they are not open past 16:45 on at least one day of the week, even if that meant earlier closing on another day, because then people who work later hours could then get their cameras to them more easily.
I would not hesitate to come back when my camera needs maintenance / a good clean, I'm of course hoping not to be back because of damage! Would happily recommend ROFA for workmanship and staff attitude. Thank You ROFA.
