β β β β β Ideal place to buy running shoes, good advice, and possibly to exchange after a first run of they don't fit well.

β β β β β Asked to pay 25 euros for camera test which was less than 15 seconds as I opted not to buy shoes. Ultimately, I bought a pair of socks for 12 euros. Very bad store.

β β β β β Today, I bought my first pair of (proper) running shoes and I was more than satisfied with their service. The shop assistant was really nice and helpful.

β β β β β Went today to look at the option of buying new running trainers for Christmas. The friendly staff member said they did gait analysis and could find a good shoe for me. The gait analysis took about 30s running on the treadmill and about 30s looking at me running in slow motion which was interesting - it confirmed I was a neutral runner as I thought.
I was then given 3 pairs of shoes to try on and run in. One was too big, one dug in on my ankle and one was okay but nothing that I loved. I asked if they had anymore than 3 that was suitable for me (neutral runner 5k-10k) and they didn't. I had a choice of 3.
I said I would leave it for today and have a think as I wasn't totally sure.
The atmosphere changed a little then and I was then told my the employee that I had to pay 25euro for the gait analysis if I wasn't going to buy any shoes...
I asked why, and the gentleman said that it was because people come in to the shop and get analysed and then buy shoes on the internet (which is Im sure an annoying problem!).
Naturally I was a little annoyed at this. I strongly feel if this is the case then that needs to be communicated to the customer BEFORE the analysis and not after. I felt under pressure to therefore buy some shoes, even though I only had a choice of 3.
My advice and learnings...,go to the shop as they had a good, but not great, selection of shoes. Check before getting the analysis if you need to pay for it if you don't buy the shoes!!
I didn't end up paying for the analysis and walked out the shop not buying a pair of trainers that I felt pressured into buying.
I don't think I will return unfortunately. Times are hard at the moment but communication is key too.
