As a teenager I often felt insecure in this big world. Growing up in the 90’s with the internet and later the social media, but also the expectations that exist from society has made an impact on me and my generation. These topics have made me think about my life and the choices I made thus far. What effect does it have on my current way of living and is this how I want to continue? I decided to go on a trip around the world with my boyfriend in 2019.
That’s when my project ‘Under The Same Sun’ came to fruition. This personal project is about my generation (the millennials, born between 1980-2000). I document the people I connect with along the way. It shows a combination of portraits, letters and landscapes I intuitively find from destination to destination. My intention is to understand the identities of my generation, to show their point of views in life in combination with the journey I am making as a photographer.
