★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bovenop de terp van Blija, dichtbij de Waddenzee, deze fraaie laatgotische kerk. In vroeger tijden (hij is gebouwd begin 16e eeuw) was het dreigende water steeds in de buurt. Ongetwijfeld heeft de toren (die nog resteert van de vroegere romaanse kerk uit de 13e eeuw) ook dienst gedaan als uitkijkpost. Bijzondere grafzerken binnen, in deze aan Nicolaas van Myra gewijde kerk. Dat hij ook beschermheilige is van (onder meer) schippers en vissers, past hier goed.
 On top of the mound of Blija, near the Wadden Sea, this beautiful late Gothic church. In earlier times (it was built in the early 16th century), the threatening water was always nearby. Undoubtedly, the tower (which remains of the former Romanesque church from the 13th century) also served as a lookout. Special gravestones inside, in this church dedicated to Nicholas of Myra. That he is also the patron saint of (among others) skippers and fishermen fits well here.

Beautiful traditional church on mound dedicated to Nicholas. Unfortunately not able to look inside, because closed.
