β β β β β star brakes rental is a very nice place. They have a large selection of bikes, their prices are good, and they are very very friendly and helpful. We had several children for us and they moved child seats around to different bike so everything was on a bike fit and worked well it was a very fun experience. I can't say enough about how friendly the people were there and helpful

β β β β β NOTE: This review was previously posted, but I hav switched Google accounts and am reposting hit again here.
I live on a bike, In a place like the Netherlands, this may not seem like something to state with pride, but I am from Massachusetts, in the United States, and here the cars are the dominant mode of movement. Yet in a city I prefer to move by bike as much as possible, so obviously I was spoiled for choice when it came to renting a bicycle in the Netherlands.
How to pick one bike rental shop from another? Well, first things first: when I go to other places I try my best to seek out local businesses, and small businesses. Star Bikes caught my eye based on this simple criteria, and met all my expectations.
StarBikes was charming and relaxed; it felt very much like a place where work gets done and a genuine community exists. The shop is small and humble, and not at all flashy or fussy β which is an asset! No pretense; no overbearing posturing; just bikes, knowledgable staff, and a calm, familiar vibe. It is homey and there is a kindness in the air.
Of course, the bikes are center stage. I got a phenomenal rate on an awesome city bike that allowed me to see much more of Amsterdam than I expected. It was well kept and they were patient with my little American quirks and questions.
The whole process was mellow and casual, yet professional and helpful. I was very grateful and sad when I returned the bike.
Support Star Bikes, especially if you're coming from the States. One of the highlights of my stay in Amsterdam.

β β β β β My mother and I rented a handicapped tricycle. It was such a wonderful opportunity to give her the authentic A'dam experience with few limitations. The detachable wheelchair is extremely useful for biking somewhere and then walking around. The bike itself is heavy, and requires some skill to drive - not electric. If you've never cycled around A'dam, I don't recommend getting this. Price was fair, service was kind and friendly. Highly recommend Starbikes!
