In tegenstelling tot de beide andere stations, die nog grotendeels in oude staat verkeren, is het station van Leeuwarden later grondig verbouwd. In 1890 kwam er aan de oostzijde een nieuwe vierkante aanbouw, de zijvleugels werden in 1924 verbouwd. Ingrijpender was de vernieuwing van het middengedeelte in 1904. Op de plaats van het oorspronkelijke gebouw kwam een hoge nieuwe hal met een groot halfrond venster. Ook in 2000 is het station verbouwd en gemoderniseerd. Elk toiletbezoek op een station moet mogelijk zijn voor iedereen met vrije keus hoe te betalen!! Wat direct opvalt in de stationshal zijn de glas in loodramen. Die zijn prachtig. Die zijn fysiek van elkaar gescheiden door in-/uitcheckpoortjes. In itself a great station. You just have to take into account that there is an Arriva part and an NS part. Ik ben wel benieuwd hoe het eruit zal zien na de renovaties, dus ik kom vast nog wel eens terug. Yesterday my final destination was Leeuwarden station.
