★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My family has been coming here for gemstones and fossils for several generations now and Stenelux is therefore a well known name amongst us, as well as many people from Amsterdam. The owner is always friendly and helpful, making it impossible to leave without exactly that what you're looking for. A perfect place for a birthday present, or something for yourself if you're into gems, crystals, or fossils.

Perfect spot to nose about and highly recommended for my fellow pigment/mineral enthusiasts.

I planned to buy something later that day but wont be returning due to his poor manners and disgusting attitude

Mr Mulder has helped me today with selecting a very special piece of wand and some crystals. His wife is super lovely lady!! Such a beautiful couple with this lovely store ?? I'm going back for more soon. You must visit!
Bear in mind they only open 3 days per week, from Thursday till Saturday from 11am -17pm.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Situated more or less equidistant from the rear of Rijksmuseum and the entrance to Albert Cuyp Market, Stenelux is a fascinating two room corner shop on Eerste Jacob van Campenstraat, in Amsterdam's 'Pijp' neighbourhood.
When you search for Steenelux on Google Maps, you are directed to a page entitled "Long established polished stones, crystals, minerals, lapidary, mounted butterflies and insects, shells, ammonites, skeletons and fossils shop". I suspect the owner filled in the description erroneously into the box supposed to contain the name of the business. It is however a very apt description of what the shop's has to offer.
There are small stones and minerals ranging to ones several kilos in weight. There are some impressive examples of fossilised fish and insects dating back many hundreds of thousands of dicennia with a small sized sample costing as little as €10. It makes an unusual gift. Birthstones also make good presents. There are stunning mounted butterflies in magnificent colours and for Halloween lovers, a variety of skeletons in all shapes and sizes.
If you don’t see what you are looking for straight away, the owners have draws full of treasures in the rear. They are very knowledgeable about their eclectic assortment of merchandise and will happily fill you in with the details. Prepare to be amazed.
