ICANN Advisory Roles
Jaap Akkerhuis has served on the Security and Stability Advisory Committee (SSAC) of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) since its inception. SSAC advises the ICANN community and Board on matters relating to the security and integrity of the Internet's naming and address allocation systems. This includes operational, administrative, and registration matters. SSAC engages in ongoing threat assessment and risk analysis of the Internet naming and address allocation services to assess where the principal threats to stability and security lie, and advises the ICANN community accordingly.
In addition, Jaap Akkerhuis has various other ICANN advisory roles to support the Internet community. These include Work Track 5: Geographic Names at the Top-Level, which focuses on developing proposed recommendations regarding the treatment of geographic names at the top-level, as well as the Root Server System Advisory Committee (RSSAC), responsible for advising the ICANN community and Board on matters relating to the operation, administration, security, and integrity of the Internet's Root Server System. Lasty, he serves on the Registry Services Evaluation Process (RSEP), ICANN's process for evaluating proposed gTLD registry services or contractual modifications for security, stability or competition issues.
