Este movimiento, radical como pocos en su concepción, tomó se nombre de la revista "de Stijl", de Theo van Doesburg. Su simplicidad y contundencia lo caracterizó. En lo formal, lineas verticales y horizontales, rectas. En lo cromático, color amarillo, rojo y azul. En un mundo entristecido por la pasada guerra, ellos ofrecieron un festival de color y vida.  When someone thinks of design and architecture in the Netherlands, they think of "De Stijl".
