About Taalthuis
For somebody who has just arrived in the Netherlands it’s nice if, besides learning to speak some Dutch, they can learn something about Dutch practices and customs. The basic beginners course (A0>A1) teaches non-Dutch speakers more about the Dutch language and culture by exploring all sorts of themes and subjects. You will learn Dutch by playing various games, listening to stories and completing texts.
Each lesson deals with a grammatical subject alternated with plenty of games.
The course consists of 13 lessons of 2 hours and 15 minutes each in the morning (9.30-11.45 AM) or in the evening (7.15/- 9.30 PM).
Every lesson there will be homework. This homework is partly in the workbook and partly online on the e-learningsite. This will cost the student about 5 hours time. The total study load is 7,5 hours per week.
At the end of the course all students do an exam both written and oral. They all receive a certificate of participation (80% presence needed) and an exam result.
Personal attention for the students is important. The maximum number of participants is 8-10 depending on the classroom.
The textbook ‘Kom maar binnen’ and the grammarbook ‘Het Fundament’ are provided for the first lesson.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great school, organized, following all latest covid mesurments. The teachers always organized, friendly, open to more academic question. You learn not only a language but also the culture. I felt i was in a safe environment to ask question as many times i need to be sure i follow normally the course. Teachers inspire you and support you while learning. I also had very valuable e-learning material from the school which actually helped me succeed quicker and in a fun way my material reviews. I highly recommend purchase the extra e-learning material. At the end of the course there is also a certification. I definitely continue my courses for next trimester. Here i learned a new language, a new culture, met new people and had fun while doing it!

The classes are small sized with engaging teachers. The lessons are not boring, but instead creative and encourage speaking and practicing as much Dutch as possible with others in a fun way. After each class, I was inspired to try more and practice my Dutch more in the real-world.

The classes are very interactive and you really learn a lot, not just about the language, but also about the Netherlands itself! Highly recommend for anyone wanting to learn a new language! The place is, however a bit difficult to find the first time!

I became very comfortable understanding and chatting about certain topics and the smaller class size made it easy to learn, in a fun environment. My classmates all had a similar level to me so that helped too. It worked very well online, and I have actually signed up for the next course. Lots of great extra material too.
