We found De Leeuw thanks to the signpost in the little square; we passed up the restos there as "not quite right" and thankfully we did.It was a most enjoyable couple of hours. The waiter we met outside answered "Ja zeker" to every question we had; we went in and ordered beer; then we met Maxi. She made everything shine. I ordered pasta with mushroom sauce (usually disappointing but I did anyway) and it was delicious -- various fresh mushrooms with the right amount of cream. My partner ordered a goat cheese salad different from any other (with added smoked duck breast and appelstroop) but not fussy. Carefully made. Everything about De Leuuw van Vlaanderen Gulpen was like that. Careful. Good. A lot of fun. I would almost make the trip just to eat there again. Yes, and the beer. Thank you Maxi, Tom, and young waiter.Tot ziens!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What am amazing place! Maxi, Tom and their staff are great! They go above and beyond. The atmosphere is relaxed and the food is fantastic and top quality! Even with a milk intolerance there was a lot of choice and their knowledge was as it should be. We can recommend this place to everyone who's visiting Gulpen!
