About Tensegrity Training

My story with injuries started when I was a kid. I had to quit playing soccer because of pain in my knees. After this I had to find something else and got into martial arts. A while later my knee problem started to get back until it got to a point where I couldn’t even run or throw a kick without pain. This was the second time I could not practice the sport I wanted to.

Because of this I got interested in physical training and the passion for training and physiotherapy started to develop. I went from a 65kg skinny kid with knee pain to 80kg with muscles and no more pain in my knees.

At the age of 20 I started training Brazilian Jiu – Jitsu and MMA, which led me to competing more than 20 times within one year in various disciplines. Unfortunately all this training and competing in combat sports over the past years has also gotten me injured a lot. I do take from it a lot of experience and knowledge related to injury management and training. Learn from my mistakes and learn from somebody who understands the sport itself.

Voordat ik begon aan het 12 weken durende tensegrity trainingsschema was ik 9 kilo zwaarder en zo flexibel als een stuk hout. Bij het intakegesprek aan het begin van het traject besprak ik met Nathan mijn doelstelling om af te vallen en zoveel mogelijk functionele kracht en flexibiliteit te verkrijgen. Door de professionele en situatiegerichte coaching (thuis trainen i.v.m. sluiten sportscholen door het coronavirus) boekte ik met 3 keer in de week trainen snel resultaten. Door middel van truecoach hield ik mijn progressie bij door het uploaden van video's van mijn trainingen en ontving ik feedback en aanpassingen op mijn traininggschema. Zo liep ik gedurende een BJJ-training een heupblessure op en was ik door Nathan via een dagelijkse CARS-routine hier binnen een week weer vanaf. Aan het einde van het 12 weken durende tensegrityprogramma ben ik 9 kilo afgevallen, kan in plaats van 8 keer 50 keer opdrukken en beweeg ik beter dan ooit. Al met al ben ik door de professionele en kennisvolle coaching van Nathan beter geworden zo wel als sporter en als mens.
Before starting the 12-week tensegrity training schedule, I was 9 kilos heavier and as flexible as a piece of wood. During the intake interview at the start of the process, I discussed with Nathan my goal to lose weight and to obtain as much functional strength and flexibility as possible. Due to the professional and situation-oriented coaching (training at home due to the closure of gyms due to the corona virus) I quickly achieved results with training 3 times a week. Through truecoach I tracked my progress by uploading videos of my workouts and I received feedback and adjustments to my training schedule. For example, I sustained a hip injury during a BJJ training and was cleared of this within a week by Nathan via a daily CARS routine. At the end of the 12-week tensegrity program, I lost 9 kilos, can do 50 push-ups instead of 8 times and am moving better than ever. All in all, thanks to Nathan's professional and knowledge-based coaching, I have become better as an athlete and as a person.

Without Tensgrity training I wouldn't have been able to train durable, as much and long as I do. It has always been a driving force for me as an athlete and helped me win European Championships on a level that even amazed myself. I visited a workshop by tensegrity about functional range mobilization and CAR’s. Very well educated and unique approach to strength training and rehabilitation/prehab. He teached me a lot of tools I use every day to reduce wear and tear of everyday training. Very good instructor, highly recommend!!

Started training grappling/mma a few years back and noticed a few pinches and pains here and there that took me to Nathan. Nathan took me through a couple of test to see where I was at and wrote a weekly plan for me and helped me working at my overall body "maintenance" via new concepts of mobility. Now about 12 weeks later, my knees feel stronger than ever, I walk more upright/better posture and I feel overall better in my body. Definitely will come back for more help sooner than later !
