β β β β β Very cool to see the final piece of deltawerken, its purpose to keep the Netherlands above water, a guardian against climate change and the rising sea level.

β β β β β Nice exhibition for whoever is interested in water-managing engineering ! It's possible and easy to book an English tour for just a few euros and it's really worth as the guide will translate the inside exhibition and give an outside close-up tour.
Very impressive barrier, inspiring and beautiful!

β β β β β As a civil engineer this place is well worth the voyage. I called ahead and asked if they could do an English tour, which they graciously accommodated. The tour had amazing access and the guide was extremely knowledgeable with technical questions. The inside of the museum was all in Dutch so I didn't get as much out of it. To get here either take a taxi direct, or from hook of Holland which has busses.

β β β β β The Maeslantkering a storm surge barrier on the Nieuwe Waterweg to protect Rotterdam and Dordrecht is a true masterpiece. It is one of the largest moving structures in the world. The Keringhuis is the visitor center where information on water management and the technical details of the barrier are explained.

β β β β β A visit to the site includes a 15-minute film, as well as a walk and a tour of the facility. A total of about 1 hour. We bought a "Keringhuis + English Tour" ticket for 4.50 euros per adult. The girl who was explaining to us is called Antonella. She is very nice and competent. The visit is worth it!

β β β β β The staff were so friendly and helpful. My husband had learnt a lot maeslantkering in school and had never expected to actual visit many years later. There was only a Dutch tour guide who was already busy but Peter, one of the engineers took a little time out of his day to take us down to the barrier and tell us all about it. Fascinating and very informative. Thanks Peter, an experience we will never forget.
