★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Een indrukwekkend bouwwerk de watertoren in Tilburg is gebouwd in 1897 en is ontworpen door architect H.P.N. Halbertsma. In dat jaar kreeg de stad naast een toren ook een buizennet een pompstation. De watertoren heeft een hoogte van 50,50 meter en één waterreservoir van 1000 m³.
An impressive structure, the water tower in Tilburg, was built in 1897 and was designed by architect H.P.N. Halbertsma. In that year, in addition to a tower, the city also had a pipe network and a pumping station. The water tower has a height of 50.50 meters and one water reservoir of 1000 m³.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ De historische watertoren uit 1897 is een eye catcher in de vrij volgebouwde stad. Het rijksmonument heeft in 2016 zijn functie als watertoren verloren. Hierdoor is het een van de laatste werkende watertorens in heel Nederland.
De toegangsdeur heeft een neo-renaissancistische sieromlijsting waarin het Tilburgse Schild is verwerkt. Het waterreservoir was voor zijn tijd aanzienlijk groot, mede door de bruisende textielindustrie.
Boven in de toren is een iconisch erkertoren (ook bekend als arkel, of sentinel) gebouwd met een koperen torendak.
De meeste watertorens worden gesloopt, of er wordt nieuwe invulling aan gegeven i.v.v. een restaurant, bar of museum.
The historic water tower from 1897 is an eye catcher in the fairly built-up city. The national monument lost its function as a water tower in 2016. This makes it one of the last working water towers in the Netherlands.
The entrance door has a neo-Renaissance decorative frame in which the Tilburg Shield has been incorporated. The water reservoir was considerably large for its time, partly due to the bustling textile industry.
At the top of the tower is an iconic oriel tower (also known as arkel, or sentinel) built with a copper tower roof.
Most water towers are being demolished, or given a new meaning i.v.v. a restaurant, bar or museum.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ...en toen liet die hele aardige onderhoudsmonteur ons stiekem BINNEN....
...en klommen we vervolgens TIEN lange trappen op tot ONDER het watervat boven ons hoofd....
...en DAARNA liepen we nog eens 4 hele smalle trapjes omhoog tot BOVENAAN dat watervat, wat LEEG was: 1 Augustus 2019 werd deze oude watertoren uit 1896 buiten bedrijf gesteld! De foto bovenaan is mislukt!
... en wij zijn dus HELEMAAL BOVENIN geweest, nog ver boven de 4 raampjes. Nu gaan de dames er een tekening van maken van wat we allemaal gezien hebben! ÈN... nu BEGRIJPEN hoe het water uit de kraan kan komen! ??

... and then we climbed TEN long stairs to UNDER the water barrel above our heads ....
... and afterwards we climbed another 4 very narrow steps up to the top of that water tank, which was EMPTY: August 1, 2019, this old water tower from 1896 was taken out of operation! The photo at the top failed!
... and we have been ALL ABOVE, far above the 4 windows. Now the ladies are going to make a drawing of what we have all seen! AND ... UNDERSTAND how water can come out of the tap! ??
