Setting: family dinner. I was received courteously but by a non-Dutch speaking person. Ordering also in English. It is ridiculous not to be able to order in one's own language in one's own country. However, the chairs are comfortable, the tables are far enough apart to allow one to walk between them, although the music was intrusive and irritating at first. The complimentary poppadoms with sauces were in some cases burnt and should not have been served. However, from this point on things got better. Service was attentive, ambiance pleasant. The chicken tikka first course was rather on the spicy side but very, very tender. The lamb jalfrezi on the other hand was considerably less spicy but also very good. The naan was aromatic and sprayed with a little butter. The mango ice cream was excellent. Prices on the high side - 40 euros per person, more or less. Would go back another time though.

Amazing place. Been to many Indian restaurants but this one is definitely the best. Good friendly service. Taste wise I have not find anything better which resembles India in Netherlands. Highly recommended.

I have been to this restaurant many times now.. food has so far never disappointed me though it takes a while to prepare and deliver to the tables... Just sit back with a nice beer (I personally like the ones from the tap) and enjoy the evening.. recommend Tandoori chicken and Chaat varieties...

One of the best authentic Indian restaurants in amsterdam. There dal makni, paneer jalferzi and tandoori chicken is a must try .

I’ve been here several times and the food was never matching expectations. The bhindi had too many onions and it was not that flavourful, the chole was quite bland, the dhal was the only dish that we actually liked. We also wanted to try deserts and my friends mentioned that from their previous experiences gulab jamun is not good at all. We decided for kulfi, which for me was slightly better than the other dishes. There were many small flies flying around our table which is quite unusual to experience in a restaurant.

tl;dr: if you get the 3 course special, be prepared to eat A LOT. I have to admit we came to Tulsi because we couldn't get a table at another restaurant we wanted to eat at. It ended up being a good idea. The place was relatively full and we were asked if we had a reservation (didn't) so might be a good idea to indeed make one if you're planning in advance to eat there. There are a lot of items in the menu. It's quite hard to pick something in places that have extensive menus, so out of convenience I went with their 3 course special (one appetizer, one main dish and desert) for 32,50. Holy smacks on a hammock, did food come. At first, just three little samosas (crunchy, with a nice faint hint of spice). But then the main dishes came (two chicken jalfreezi) and it was immediately clear we wouldn't be able to handle it. It's just too much food. Wasteful, even, because I find it hard to believe two normal adults with regular appetites should be able to handle amounts of food that would be more adequate for a viking longhouse after-battle feast. Other than this, no complaints, really. Food was tasty. A fly decided to take a swim in my beer, but I don't blame the restaurant for this. There was also some confusion on their part when splitting the bill (please make this default all over the world, masters of the universe, or at least ask) but we managed to pay separately in the end. I would've frankly left happier if only there wasn't so much food, but I would still recommend the place.
