Al tientallen jaren is de Mingel een begrip in Stadskanaal en de wijde omgeving. Begonnen in 1981 in bistro stijl is de Mingel geworden tot wat het nu is, een relaxte kroeg zonder poespas, een kroeg met 'soul'. Gelegen aan het Menistenplein, aan het begin van het centrum van Stadskanaal. Op het dak van de kroeg zitten 3 bioscoopzalen van de bioscoop Smoky en met het theater Geert Theis, het Best Western hotel en diverse restaurants en eetgelegenheden is de Mingel een soort 'spin' in het web.

Voor het onmoeten van mensen, een lekker biertje van de tap op uit de fles, een goede borrel of een lekker hapje ben je bij de Mingel aan het juiste adres. Gedurende de zomerperiode is de Mingel één keer zo groot. Dit komt door ons prachtig en sfeervolle terras op het Menistenplein. Een paar trefwoorden; sfeervol, kwaliteit, gastvrij, en gezelligheid. Dit is wat de Mingel moet zijn en waar wij altijd naar streven.

The original atmosphere wasn't really impacted much, and generally the bar seems more "open" now. Staffmembers carry around a great smile, and are helpfull, even during peak hours. It can get crowded in here on friday and saturday nights, so prepare to do the sideways shuffle quite a lot. The amount of toilets is questionable, especially when the bar (as well as the people) get filled up. Has a pool table, and a dart board to use during less busy times. The pool table sometimes gets converted to table or gets removed in case there's a live act playing that evening. Yeah, they have live acts. Check their Facebook profile for any events. During the summer, there's two outdoor areas, one right in front of the café, and one within 30 meters of the front door. Both areas offer shelter for the rain, allthough the latter area is usually only opened during summer.
