? Eindhoven / Netherlands ?? ?️ The Van Abbemuseum "The 'new' Van Abbemuseum is comprised of the renovated landmark building by architect A.J. Kropholler, dating from 1936, and two new sections. Both the renovation and structural alterations to the older part of the museum as well as the new sections are by the Dutch architect Abel Cahen. He has succeeded in organically integrating the old building into a new and larger complex. Despite its monumental character, the new building maintains the human dimensions so characteristic of the former museum. Massive installations or sizeable exhibitions as well as smaller intimate projects - such as showings of prints and drawings - can all be presented thanks to the variety of the exhibition areas. Cahen's distinctive design makes a notable contribution to Dutch museum architecture. The museum also has a whole range of new facilities, created by the Belgian designer Maarten van Severen including an auditorium and an education centre, which will accommodate a wide spectrum of public events." ??‍♂️ Architects: Alexander Jacobus Kropholler . . . Very special museum! Their approach in dealing with their past and role in the society then is amazing. The exhibition, the collection... All really well thought and made. Start at chapter 0, take the lift from there to the 3rd floor. You might want to go back to -1 and back to third again... Do not miss the old building and if you see a beautiful corner with Persian rugs, tea, delicacies and friendly people... Join them, talk and listen. Great way to end your visit.

What I love about this modern museum is almost all collections are displayed with an enjoyable english narrative. When I entered the first exhibition room, I must admit it was kind of creepy because the exhibit looked weird for me. But it’s only the first room and I think it’s the temporary exhibition. The rest is fine.

#50Eindhoven Easy to spot the building (and the entrance!). A lovely place to spend some hours. I probably should have waited until September for the exhibitions to open - but in the meantime there was plenty to see and explore, a pretty cafΓ© feels like a little oasis in the heart of industrial Eindhoven #railthetrails

Beautiful building from the inside, the staff is very friendly. There are specific paintings that have been reproduced in 3D so that people with visual impairment can also experience them.

The museum offers very interesting, worth visiting exhibitions and events. I was there last time to see GΓΌlsΓΌn Karamustafa's and LeΓ³n Ferrari's collective exhibition and I was mesmerized. The museum architecture is interesting, the exhibitions are curated perfectly, the staff is eager to help and they are very friendly. Also the permanent collection of the museum is satisfactory. You should visit if you are interested in modern art.

We went on a Tuesday afternoon between 15h and 16h which is free! We still booked the tickets online. We got to enjoy this big, fun, diverse museum for free! There were some pieces that were interactive (you have to scan the qr code), you could touch, smell and some had music! It's mostly modern art, which is not really my liking but I still enjoyed it very much. There's a gift shop and then a cafe by the lake, it's really beautiful! We also had to show our proof of vaccination.

A beautiful museum with a lot of different works. Some beautiful, some confronting and some not my taste. How it is set-up is good but it might sometimes be difficult to find your way. The free audio guided tour is a big surplus. You can even select different ones. An as cherry on top a cafΓ© that is full of light where they serve a good carrot cake!
