In 2020 constateerde toezichthouder NVWA 16 gevallen van hittestress. Er wordt gesproken spreekt van "een zeer beperkt aantal overtredingen", maar volgens de dierenwelzijnsorganisaties gaat het in werkelijkheid waarschijnlijk om veel meer gevallen. De NVWA heeft maar beperkte capaciteit om te controleren en er zijn geen goede maatstaven voor het beoordelen van hittestress, zeggen ze.

In 2020, the NVWA observed 16 cases of heat stress. There is talk of "a very limited number of violations", but according to the animal welfare organizations there are probably many more cases. The NVWA has limited capacity to monitor and there are no good benchmarks for assessing heat stress, they say.
