About Wagenborg Passagiersdiensten
Sneldienst m.s. Fostaborg werd oorspronkelijk gebouwd als Crew Transfer Vessel (CTV) voor Wagenborg Sleepdienst en gedoopt tot 'Waterlines'.
In 2019 werd het schip toegevoegd aan de vloot van Wagenborg Passagiersdiensten en ingezet als sneldienst tussen Ameland en Holwerd. Om als passagiersschip te kunnen varen, was een verbouwing van het schip noodzakelijk. Dit gebeurde in sneltreinvaart op de werf van Koninklijke Niestern Sander in Farmsum. Op 5 juli 2019 ging het schip als m.s. Fostaborg in de vaart.
De naam 'Fostaborg' refereert aan de verbondenheid met Ameland. Ameland heette ooit Fostalân; vernoemd naar beschermvrouwe en godin Fosta uit de Friese mythologie. Er was ooit zelfs een tempel voor Fosta op het eiland. '-borg' verwijst naar het familiebedrijf Royal Wagenborg, waar Wagenborg Passagiersdiensten onderdeel van is.
