Uniek in zijn soort want dit is de enige in Nederland volgens de methode van de Belgische architect Dumas gebouwd: betonnen segmenten die ter plekke in elkaar werden gezet. Het gietijzeren reservoir kan 200 kuub bevatten, dus de constructie is behoorlijk stevig. Ruim 28 meter hoog staat-ie daar mooi op te vallen. Oorspronkelijk stond op het terrein ook een gasfabriek (!). Drinkwaterbedrijf Vitens pompt op het terrein achter de watertoren per jaar 2,5 miljard liter grondwater omhoog.
On the Hollandse IJssel in Nieuwegein this water tower dating from 1911. Unique of its kind because this is the only one in the Netherlands built according to the method of the Belgian architect Dumas: concrete segments that were put together on site. The cast iron reservoir can hold 200 cubic meters, so the construction is quite sturdy. More than 28 meters high, it stands out nicely there. Originally there was also a gas factory (!) On the site. Drinking water company Vitens pumps up 2.5 billion liters of groundwater per year on the site behind the water tower.
