Dit lijkt een kerk, maar is het niet. De architectuur is een soort Nederlands classicisme. Hier werd vroeger in wijn gehandeld. En is een waag geweest, er werd dus ook gewogen. Het had dus allerlei publieke functies.
Het meest markante van deze toren is dat het een carillon heeft, welke het eerste, gestemde, carillon ter wereld was! Dat kwam door de uitvinding van de gebroeders Hemony. Dit was een revolutionair carillon.
Voor die tijd klonken alle carillons ter wereld vreselijk vals.
