Wooden Boat Service - It Butlan 19

Ik doe al jaren zaken met woodenboatservice voor al mijn onderhoud opslag en totaal renovatie. De kwaliteit van deze twee broers is ongeëvenaard. Ik raad deze broers zeker aan!

Sietse and also Andries from Wooden Boat Service (WBS) appear very friendly and knowledgeable, however the three pre-purchase inspections commissioned by me on a 1960s Riva (high six-figure price tag representing a condition of 10/10) left me with an expensive A$32,000 engine repair bill after only 3 hours of my use on the water. At this stage, I can not recommend WBS for vintage Riva inspections as WBS clearly missed the following in their inspections: 1) WBS did not provide a condition report in writing - a massive red flag! All I received were glorified invoices with little detail. Their perceived professionalism on the phone blindsided me as I asked for e better report at first. 2) WBS did not check on the carburettor work which was conducted between inspections 2 and 3 - they flagged the issue but trusted in the vendor's repair and did not check the quality of the work which led to the flooding of my engine contributing to a catastrophic engine failure 3) WBS did not properly check the 60 year old engine for metal in oil. This inexpensive exercise would have shown that the engine and cylinders were completely worn. Together with the carburettor failure (2) this led to the catastrophic engine failure and could have saved me to pay for a $32,000 engine rebuild 4) WBS did not check on a needed hull reseal and repaint that was promised by vendor between inspections 1 and 2 - again WBS raised an issue at first but did not check that the work was done - I now have to pay for WBS's forgetfulness 5) WBS did not not alert nor advised me to conduct additional possible inspection services beyond the "standard customary checks in Netherlands", which seem totally insufficient to me in light of a 60 year old boat - I would have been very happy to pay for extra services to avoid my huge repair bill 6) Finally WBS do not seem to have a professional indemnity insurance for their work as they only advised that they can reimburse their fees to me but not more. Unfortunately, their fees amount to only 7% of my repair bill. I simply can not recommend WBS at this stage but still hope we can remediate without lawyers. FYI to all reading this - I am VERY reasonable - I don't want WBS to pay 100% of my bill but hope they can make an offer which is better than "we give you your fees back". For example, I swiftly received 1/3 of my $32,000 repair bill back from the yacht broker who is very sorry for my trouble but was not contractually liable for the issue. WBS on the other hand is fully liable for their pre-purchase inspection of my engine but their current offer of only 7% of my repair bill is simply not enough for me to settle at this stage. I am only revising this rating now and after months of discussions - I hope you can do better WBS! Victor
