About Zorgboerderij The Buytenhof
Op de Buytenhof wordt al vier generaties lang door de zelfde familie geboerd. In 1896 trekt Jan van den Hoek met vrouw en kinderen vanuit Ridderkerk naar Rhoon. In 1911 breekt hij de oude boerderij af en laat er de huidige boerderij bouwen. Het bedrijf wordt voorgezet door twee zoons Johannes en Aart van den Hoek, die het gemengde bedrijf flink uit breiden. In 1965 brand de historische schuur af, maar gelukkig kan het huis gespaard blijven. De schuur word vervangen door de de huidige fruitschuur. De specialisatie die overal in de landbouw plaatsvindt gaat ook aan het bedrijf van de gebroeders van den Hoek niet voorbij. Eerst verdwijnen in de jaren ’80 de melkkoeien en wordt de akkerbouwtak verkleint. Wegens gebrek aan opvolging verdwijnt in de jaren ’90 de akkerbouw helemaal en worden er alleen nog appels en peren geteeld.
Inmiddels is het bedrijf overgenomen door dochter Marianne, haar man Ad en zoon Wiard Visser. De boerderij is sinds 2004 omgevormd tot de sociale en multifunctionele landbouwonderneming. Sindsdien is de missie om mensen gastvrij te ontvangen en ze te laten genieten van al het moois van het land. Er wordt dagbesteding geboden aan volwassenen met een verstandelijke of psychosociale beperking. En vrijwilligers kunnen meewerken. Kortom de Buytenhof blijft volop in ontwikkeling.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ HORRIBLE! MY SON HATED IT HE CRIED! BAD APPLES EXPENSIVE FOOD ALWAYS UNDER CONSTRUCTION. THEY HAVE HUGE SPIDERS AND ARE BRUTAL THEY HAVE MILLIONS OF WASP TRAPS WHERE NOT NEEDED AND WHERE THE TRAPS ARE MOST NEEDED, THERE ARE NO TRAPS. THEY PUT A WASP HIVE AT THE APPLES WE WERE ALL BITTEN, I GOT AN INFECTION. THEY HAVE A CHEAP BITE PEN WHICH DOES NOTHING. IM NOT COMING BACK IF IT WAS THE LAST PLACE ON EARTH. YOU WILL REGRET COMING FOR MORE THAN YOU CAN IMAGINE!!!!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A pick-your own fruit farm hidden away in an undeveloped part of Rhoon, very friendly service in the restaurant and an extensive menu. A nice place to relax after picking strawberries.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is accessible and has a large parking place, even so, in summer time is really busy. They made many renovations, with three buildings, the connection between them is friendly. You can eat there, shopping fruits, make a children party and even a private family gathering. I saw many people picking their own thee leaves at the botanical garden. Just amazing. They don't get 5 stars on my opinion because large part of the people who go there go with kids, and of course moat of the toys are damaged, old and even broken. So far my kid has couple of injuries for broken plastics car toys. Bottom lines, perfect place to spent a morning tart with coffee.

Has playground, shop and restaurant.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice place for plucking apples! Especially if you have kids, there’s an area for kids to play and run around. Apples were sweet & sour and although it wasn’t the Apple season when we were there, but there are still enough apples to pluck from.
Nice cafe to relax and grab a bite if the weather is hot. You can buy some local products too.
