★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Random Check at AH Turfmarkt (second time experience)
I got my groceries today (June 13 2020) at AH Turfmarkt. After I finished checking out my groceries at the self check-out counter, a staff approached me saying that she needs to re-scan my groceries for a random check. I looked around at other shoppers at the self check out and guessed i was the only one being randomly check-ed at that time.
I asked the staff the reason behind the random check and why did she chose me. I asked her whether my physical appearance ( I am Asian wearing headscarf) somehow prompted her to do the random check. Her answer was that it has nothing to do with my appearances and that it is just random.
Being a person who have experienced so many random check before, and the fact that it was the second time i was being randomly check-ed at this place, I cannot help but wonder how AH Staff define 'random' ? and how AH staff were trained to chose the person for a random check?
(probably, if there was an imaginary bubble on top of my head, the writing inside it would be 'pick me!' every time they want to do a random check)
For me personally, the experience was very unpleasant.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very rude staff!! Unfortunately didn't get a name of a girl who was super rude to me because she run away when I asked about the store manager. Most of the stuff in this store also doesn't care about social distancing.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Management and cashiers are nice but stock boys are rude and loud. Self service checkout is poorly managed. The area is partially blocked forcing people to come in close contact and the baggage checks from clerks feel like harassment. The store is poorly designed in general.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have been at Albert Heijn and specifically this store tons of times for a reason, it is closest to my residence. To avoid queues, I always go for self check-out counter. Many a time, one or, the other staff approached me saying she has to re-scan my checked-out basket. And, it was always me and no other shopper at that moment. Reason? Appearance, brown guy. I have heard from many non-white guys, they encountered the same random check. AH must educate their employees in this regard.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good shop never had any problem over there. Not sure if I was lucky, but every time I was poping in over there, i had a lot of discounted food to choose from :)
Regarding staff again never had any problem. It must have be my personal charm ;)
